The following list of websites may be beneficial for you and your student. Some tutor websites offer lesson plans for adult learners, while others offer information to refresh your knowledge of grammar, writing, and reading skills. One website is a tutor resource for how to develop a lesson with techniques to teach a variety of skills for any level learner. Students may also log on to some sites for interactive lessons or practice.

This site is a great resource for tutors to develop lessons and techniques to teach a variety of skills for any level learner. It also provides online lessons for students in reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, and writing.

This is an excellent site for adult basic readers.Some lessons can be done on the computer, while others are offered in print version.Leveled reading selections are offered for students below 1st grade ability through eighth grade and include vocabulary, reading comprehension questions and a writing activity.

This is another great site for adult basic readers.Although this website asks for a subscription, it offers many free sample pages.Articles are available on topics ranging from Astronauts to Volcanoes and everything in between.Charts, diagrams, puzzles and quizzes are also available.

This interactive site offers “Play and Learn English,” which might be appropriate for beginning ESL. It includes recognition and pronunciation of upper and lower case letters, numbers, colors, and shapes.

This web site is for people studying English as a Second Language (ESL). There are quizzes, word games, word puzzles, proverbs, slang expressions, anagrams, a random-sentence generator and other computer assisted language learning activities. Activities range from beginning to intermediate levels.

The café is another great source for lesson plans for ESL which may be found in the IdeaCookbook.Tutors and students can work together on slang, idioms, grammar, games, pronunciation, vocabulary, and much more!

Grammar and vocabulary quizzes, tests, exercises, and puzzles can be found here for ESL students on three levels:easy, medium, and difficult.There are also links to other ESL sites.

Tutors will find this site valuable as a tool to create their own word puzzles (word search, crisscross or crossword, cryptogram, etc.).Puzzles with answer keys can be created and printed for free.This is a great way to review vocabulary.

These three sites are very helpful for the tutor of a student who is preparing for the naturalization process.The government site explains the requirements and the steps in the process.It also includes all of the forms that need to be completed. The second site is a booklet that contains similar information about the process, but may be easier to understand.Finally, the third site is an interactive free study guide.We also have additional information in both the Middletown and Newburgh offices.
