Thank you for expressing an interest in volunteering to become a literacy tutor.This form is only a survey and you are not making a commitment by returning it. The survey helps us in the planning of our tutor training sessions.  Please review this form and use the comments area if you have any questions for us. You will receive the dates, times, locations and a registration form for the next training session. The information will also be on this web site as it becomes available.

TUTOR QUALIFICATIONS

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older

  • Hold a high school diploma

  • Commit to 1-2 hours per week on behalf of a student (preparation and instructional time)

  • Attend approximately 18 hours of training on how to teach basic literacy students and students for whom English is a second language

  • Make a commitment to a student for a year; instructional times are flexible     

Online Training:

Online tutor training is now available. The training is self-paced, and takes approximately 6 hours to complete. If you are interested in this training, please contact our program coordinator at litcoordnwbg@gmail.com.
